The shocking story of Stella Dzani: “When you hear the word cancer, you think of many things”

Her love for Panathinaikos and football, the shocking battle with him cancer and the experiences he gains through it maternity. The international Stella Dzani shared her shocking story on the official page of PSAPP.

“When I was 26 years old I decided to have a family and stopped. I couldn’t combine both. Maybe I could, but in Greece this part is still unripe. While I was pregnant, I thought that the days would pass, that everything would be fine, that I would give birth and go back to football“, she initially reported about her decision to retire from football for a while.

However, along the way, the disease arose that changed the way he sees life: “When you listen the word cancer puts a difference in the mind you. It was a difficult time, I did a standard check. The doctor felt something that turned out to be malignant. I didn’t believe it, I thought the doctor had made a mistake, that it was about another woman. It was like a lie. I went to the doctor alone, the next day they informed me that I have to start a series of tests and surgery. It was harsh reality but i fought it until the end and now everything is fine”, he said.

“The first thing the doctor told me was that he would I need to see a psychologist, to manage it. I didn’t go and I’m not saying that to play it strong. I thought I could handle it myself. The waiting was the hardest part, even since the surgery. I got strength from Harry, of course. The first thing I said was “doctor, tell me that I will live, because I have a small child“. When you hear the word cancer, different things come to your mind. I was thinking how many days I need to get back to football. It was a solid lesson, to understand how important the self is“, he said closing.
