Kenny: “The match against Greece is not easy at all – Very important game for both teams”

Statements about tomorrow’s match between Ireland and our National team at “Opap Arena” (16/6, 21:45), made by Stephen Kenny.

The EIRE technician mentioned, among other things, that Greece is one difficult opponent, while he emphasized that it is a very important game for both teams.

His statements in detail:

For Ferguson: “Evan has really come through quicker than we could have expected, he has done brilliantly for Brighton in the Premier League and we are delighted to have him. He’s trained really well this week, he’s such a young player that you certainly don’t want to put too much on your shoulders, we’ve got five good strikers in the squad but he’s got tremendous ability and we’d like to see where he comes from next week for sure.”

As for Greece: “Greece have a very good home record and were in good form last year, we have to respect that, nothing will be easy, we will have to fight for everything, it’s only the second game in the group. Nothing will be decided this early. It’s definitely an important game for both teams.”

For the gap after the end of the championships: “One of the main goals coming into the week, the training camp we had before here, it’s always a problem with a gap of six weeks and some players who hadn’t played there is the temptation to do too much, we have to get the balance right, one of our goals was to get everyone fit here tonight so credit to the backroom team for making that happen, everyone is available, we’re very happy about that.”
