Definitive interruption in the final-Champion Olympiacos

The fourth final of the Basket League between Panathinaikos and Olympic .

After the throwing of firecrackers and flares that fell near the Olympiakos bench and the interruption ordered by the referees, there was an order to evacuate the OAKA. On the pitch and the stands MAT forces entered to restore order, with the atmosphere reminiscent of a warscape. While the stadium was almost empty and everything looked like – even so – the match would start again, there was of Panathinaikos fans from the bellows (!) of OAKA. The mission of Olympiakos was not threatened, since the attackers did not get close, however the guests were locked in the locker room, with strong police forces guarding it.

The referees, after closing themselves in their office and seeing the situation unfold, decided that the game was now impossible to continue and complete, with Olympiakos being crowned champion with 3-1 and the “clover” staring at the next day having to face and a very heavy seat penalty.

The refereeing trio draws up the match sheet recording everything that happened and stating the reasons for the stoppage. A big “bell” awaits Panathinaikos, as Article 25 of the ESAKE regulation provides for a penalty of three matches, a fine of up to 20,000 euros, but also the deduction of two points, which will take effect in the next season, since the incidents took place in a playoffs game.
