In statements by Romelou Loukakos referred to Inter. He commented on the fact that he does not have a European title with the Nerazzurri shirt, stating that he is bitter.
The Belgian also responded to all those who do him harsh criticismsaying his life is his business and no one else’s.
“I still remember the first day I signed for Inter. The weather, the people, the food. My family was happy here, for me it was everything. I was happy here. If we hadn’t won anything, no trophies, I would have been very disappointed. It was a motivation to win. So far I’ve scored a lot of goals, but I don’t have a European title. It is very difficult for me, the hardest thing. The first year we lost, I was very bitter. But I can’t sit, I have to go on.”
He then referred to Inter’s 2020/21 league-winning season under Antonio Conte:
“Then we became champions. Okay, we knew that from day one. Your workouts were motivating. I felt like I had reached the next level which gave me a boost throughout the year. And when it did, I thought we made it. ‘Romelu, you really did it’. And then it all stopped and then it all started. Sometimes in life you can be a businessman, a doctor, an artist, that’s enough, but a moment like that, that song, that day. Everyone hopes to have that moment in their life, that moment when you think ‘I’m where I want to be’. For me, it was that moment where I thought, ‘Okay, I’ve made it.’ And I showed my emotions on the pitch for the first time. A feeling of pure joy. I was very happy”.
Finally, Lukaku spoke about the criticism he often receives:
“Happy with myself, that’s what matters most, I accept who I am and I don’t care what other people think. I remember where I came from and what I saw, I can’t help but be happy with where I am. I know there are other things in life and I accept that, I will continue to be judged on my performance and I accept that, so let’s talk about them. Leave my life to me. It’s hard for me to show my true self, you don’t know anything about me, it’s just my business and no one else’s.”
