Defeated with 79-76 in the derby with her Czech republic and failed to qualify for this year’s quarterfinals Women’s Eurobasket the National our team.
In a game in which neither team managed to make a big difference in their favor, the “blue and white”, despite its good percentages in two-pointers (55%) and most of its rebounds (44-33), was betrayed by the regional of shooting (4/18 three-pointers) and finally experienced defeat and elimination.

The match started with National us going strong in defense and attack, with Fasoula showing her… appetites and scoring four consecutive points. However, the Czechs closed the first period on an 11-3 run, tying the score at 22-22 with her buzzer-beater three-pointer Zeitamerova.
The two teams continued to go hand-in-hand on the scoreboard in the opening minutes of the second quarter as well, with Spanou scoring 4 straight points for the 30-26 in favor of our National Team. However Czech republic continued to find solutions aggressively with… her three-point weapon, staying within “shooting distance” and taking her first lead (41-40) shortly before the end of the first half, with a three-pointer by Zeitamerova. Petros Prekas’ team went to the locker room with the smallest lead (42-41), with Spanou taking advantage of her beautiful scat pass Beans!
The second half began with the Czech Republic taking a 43-41 lead thanks to a 3-pointer by Sipalovabut our National Team responded with a 6-0 run for a 48-44 advantage, while maintaining its small advantage and staying ahead 57-52 thanks to a very difficult layup by Chineke. THE Czech republic went on a 9-2 run to take a 61-59 lead before Psanou tied it at 61-61 by shots, before the 3rd quarter ended.
THE National stuck with us offensively in the opening minutes of the fourth and decisive period, allowing the Czech Republic to go ahead 69-63, with Spanou and Stamolambrou cutting it to 69-67. At that point in the match, Holesinska made a basket and foul for 72-67, she did it again on her team’s next drive for 75-68, before Fasoula scored for 75-70. Pavlopoulou went for the shots, but only hit one of the two, the Holesinska was unerring from the line, while the Pavlopoulou missed a buzzer-beater three-pointer to tie the game, with the final 79-76 to give qualification to the Czech Republic.
