Born in Vigo on 16 December 1980, after playing in the infrastructure divisions of Celta and Cádiz, at the age of 20 he started the procedures to start his coaching career. In the 2019-2020 season, as the youngest coach in La Liga, he managed to make history with Granada, since for the first time the Andalusian club secured an exit to a European competition (Europa League). In the same season he reached the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey) with Granada, knowing from Athletic Bilbao the exclusion for the final due to the away goals rule. In 2020-2021, with Granada, he took ninth place in La Liga and reached the “8” of the Cup and the Europa League.
In May 2022, his recruitment to Espanyol was announced, which he guided to 27 matches in La Liga and four in the Copa Del Rey. In April 2023 he left the Barcelona team.
