Despite being tired from the Poland-Czech trip, Elina Jengo showed her class. The European javelin champion threw 58.83 in her fifth attempt at the Ostrava track and field meeting to take fourth place in the event.
Giorgos Botskariov’s athlete started with 58.11, went on to 56.33, was disqualified on the third attempt, and then scored 58.11, 57.26 and 58.83 to close with one disqualification.
Now, Europe’s top young athlete will travel from Ostrava to Lausanne to compete in the Diamond League of the Swiss city next Friday.
The winner of the race was the “bronze” world champion, the Japanese Haruka Kitaguchi with 63.72, followed by the Serbian Adriana Vilagos with 61.22 and third was the winner of the European Team Championship from Silesia, Nikola Ogrodnikova, with 58.84.
It is worth noting that Barbora Spotakova made the last race of her career and took the seventh place with 57.23.
Emmanuel Karalis, who also traveled directly from Silesia to Ostrava, exceeded 5.60 in the pole vault and took seventh place. The “silver” European indoor champion started with 5.40, went to 5.60, which he surpassed on Tuesday, and at 5.70 he had three invalid attempts.
Eleni Pollak placed fifth in the women’s event with a jump of 4.24. Manolis Karagianni’s athlete failed in all three attempts at 4.34.
The first place was taken by the Slovenian Tina Sutei with 4.64, while the second, the Czech Amalia Svabikova, achieved the same performance. Third place went to the French Mago Xavier with 4.54.
