Marinakis to EPO: “Try to trivialize the role of the Professional Football Commission”

by

Fire from Vangelis Marinakis in the EPO. The president of Olympiakos and the Super League in a letter he accuses the leadership of the federation for tactics by which he tries to belittle and degrade the role of the Professional Football Commission with the ultimate aim of rendering it an inactive and ineffective body.

The letter in detail:

To

Commun.

Professional Football Committee E.P.O.

EPO Executive Committee

EPO Governance & Compliance Audit Committee

Dear President,

Mrs. D. Bitzounis

I regret to note once again that your attempt to trivialize and downplay the importance and role of the Professional Football Commission continues.

You convened a meeting for today Thursday in order, among other things, to “discuss” and “take a decision” on the Regulations, the amendments of which you communicated to the Members of the EEP literally at the last minute. In fact, especially with regard to the proposals concerning K.I.M. and which significantly affect the operation of all PAEs, the amendments are introduced without any substantial consultation and while the transfer period “opens” in two days!!!

The method is unacceptable and indicates an extreme institutional contempt.

It is obvious that your aim is to make the E.E.P. an inactive and “inefficient” body, while it should decide on professional football sovereignly. That is why you persistently refuse to adopt a regulatory framework for the operation of the EEP so that it operates transparently, systematically, and for the benefit of professional football as a whole.

I repeat to you that I do not intend to cooperate in this attempt to discredit. The Regulations and the proposals you sent us will be brought to the attention of the Superleague 1 Members and will be re-introduced to the EEP in order to undergo the necessary corrections.

Until then I urge you to refrain from any attempt to implement an institutional framework in the absence of professional football. Any attempt to ratify the Regulations that are currently introduced to the EEP by the Executive Committee at its meeting today will constitute an absolute contempt for the institutional order and professional football.

The President of Super League 1

Evangelos Marinakis
