D’Ambrosio left Inter Milan

Danilo d’Ambrosio will not continue at Inter next season as well, leaving the Nerazzurri after nine and a half years of continuous presence in the Champions League finalists. The negotiations between the two sides were fruitless, since the international defender wanted a closed two-year contract and the Milanese offered him a one-year contract.

The 34-year-old Neapolitan will be free on July 1 and said goodbye to friends of last year’s Serie A champions with an emotional message on Instagram.

“I would have liked to finish my career at the team I have always supported, but it was not possible, a shame. Inter, for me, means family. Family, like the one my family and I chose to make and raise here, in the place where I grew up. I love this jersey and I experienced joys and sorrows while wearing it.

Family like the one we made with the whole Inter team, where I worked every day to take the club to where it deserves to be and I’m sure they will continue in that direction. It was a journey of love, passion, dedication, courage and humility. Always and only for the good of Inter.

A very emotional journey for me and my family and I am sure it will be a part of our lives, that we will carry in our hearts. Thank you to those who have always supported and appreciated me, to those who changed their minds about me and to those who didn’t, because you all contributed to my professional development and made me a more balanced man. Hugs to everyone, Danilo.”

The former Torino player leaves “Meatsa” with 226 appearances and 17 goals.
