A… small loss at the Austrian Grand Prix!
Quite some time after the end of the race in Spielberg and the comfortable victory of Max Verstappenthe Aston Martin testified objection for the final classification of the Grand Prix, on the occasion of the violations of the track limits by several drivers, but also the way in which the penalties were imposed by the stewards.
Following an investigation by the FIA, the appeal was ultimately upheld, with the stewards re-examining all driver infringements from scratch. Which resulted in eight drivers in total to receive additional penalties, with the final score to changes… radically! However, the top three did not change, with Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez remaining on the podium.
As for the penalties, Esteban Ocon received a 30-second penalty (!), Nick de Vries 15”, while Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon and Logan Sargent received 10 seconds each, while Yuki Tsunoda was penalized with 5 seconds.
So, the positions 4-10 all changed owner (!), with Aston Martin being the wonsince o Alonso rose to 5th place and Stroll in the 9th. Losing the case, Mr Carlos Sainz of Ferrari which dropped from 4th place to sixth…
