Lucescu: “We know we are under pressure – Ingasson wanted to leave”

by

Statements after PAOK’s first friendly on Dutch soil were made by Rasvan Lucescu!

The Romanian coach emphasized that his team is under pressure after the delay in its transfer moves and added that many of the footballers that PAOK had singled out did not come either because they did not want to or because of financial difficulties.

Finally, he also mentioned the departure of Ingason, stressing that the Icelandic defender wanted to get a transfer.

What the PAOK coach said in detail:

“It’s a first friendly, we had players with a lot of abstinence last year like Tsingaras, Murg, Michaelidis, Narey had a problem, we are also testing some other players, I’m sorry because maybe we could have won under these conditions.”

“We didn’t manage to be ready with most of the team as we would have liked for the European games. From there, Zivkovic, Koulierakis and Constantelias have returned, Kotarski will also return in a few days. We know we are under pressure because we are late. There is no specific deadline for when players will come. I will try to give balance and messages of confidence to the team.”

“We have seen several footballers who for one reason or another could not come. Either because of their price, or because they didn’t want to come themselves. We are still looking at footballers, I was unlucky because of Euro K19, it was a good opportunity for Jima to join us”.

On Ingason’s departure: “When a footballer wants to leave, it is difficult to keep him. He called me 10 days ago asking me to help him sell. He explained to me the reasons he wanted the transfer to take place. A big contract and a team close to his country. He thought that he gave everything to PAOK, this is true, he helped us a lot. We can’t say too much. I am happy that Ekong has arrived and he will start work tomorrow”.
