“Crumpled” in Silverstone and… fifth pole position for Verstappen!

by

He has no rival Max Verstappen! The Dutch world champion, “danced” in the rain and took the 27th pole position of his career and fifth for this season and will start from the first position in the Grand Prix of Silverstone on Sunday (07/09).

Next to him will be Lando Norris with McLaren who finished in second place, with Oscar Piastri finishing third.

Qualifying was quite difficult for the drivers as the track remained wet from the heavy rain. Lewis Hamilton made a strong start as the two Ferraris entered the pits early. The great Fernando Alonso rose to his first place Q1 beating Verstappen and Leclerc by a few thousandths of a second.

However 3:11 before the end the process was stopped with Red flag as Kevin Magnussen’s car stopped due to a breakdown, resulting in the rest of the cars returning to the pits for safety reasons.

With the repair of the problem the cars returned, the moment the track had dried enough. Perez was 16th and out of the running as was Magnussen, Tsunoda, Zhou and De Vries were also eliminated.

In Q2 Bottas started with a problem in the car and was forced to be on the edge of the track. Albon in the Williams and Alonso in the Aston Martin improved their times while Leclerc placed 3rd.

Verstappen then established himself at the top, eventually taking pole position with Lando Norris in 2nd and Oscar Pastry in 3rd, ahead of the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. They were followed by George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly.
