Van der Sar’s agent: “Edwin is in a serious condition but in good hands”

by

Statements about his state of health Edwin van der Sar his agent, Rob Jansen, conceded.

Speaking on a podcast in the Netherlands, he said, among other things, that his subject is serious, however, he was optimistic, stressing that he is in very good hands. At the same time, he added that he had told him when he left Ajax to calm down as he was in a very stressful time.

“Of course things are not good. Basically they are… bad and good. This is what is said when the situation is under control. You have to protect the family in this. It is in good hands. Annemarie is there with her son. There is constant contact from the Netherlands about how to proceed. He needs to rest a lot.

We’re sure this will work, but of course it’s no small feat. A brain bleed is very serious. Annemarie went through it herself in 2009. She recognizes much of what happened to her then.

Edwin and I had several discussions a few weeks before he made the decision to leave Ajax. He was a bit overwhelmed. I told him “Edwin, you have to stop. It has finished. You did what you had to do. To a point you’ll never do it again” were his words.
