New regulations on player loans from FIFA. As the World Federation announced, their number is going to be reduced to six per season.
These restrictions will start to be imposed from July with the number initially falling to eight loans, for player acquisitions and another eight for concessions. This number will decrease each season by one loan, with the last one in 2024-25 when it will reach the six that will remain.
However, there are clarifications. These regulations apply to loans between teams from different countries and not between teams in the same league, as the regulations of each federation will remain in force there. However, each country must adopt these regulations within a period of three years.
Also, these restrictions apply only to players who are 21 years old and older, as well as to players who have come from the academies of each team.
These regulations are expected to be formally approved by the federation’s executive council.
