He returns Tamir Blatt in Israel, this time on behalf of Maccabi Tel Aviv. The “people’s team” announced the transfer of the 26-year-old playmaker for the next two years.
The son of former Olympiakos coach David Blatt started out at Hapoel Holon, later playing for Ramat Hasharon, Hapoel Holon and Hapoel Jerusalem, before moving to Germany for Alba Berlin, playing there for the past two years.
In 30 games, in last year’s Euroleague, he recorded 7.8 points, 4.6 assists and 19:51 minutes of participation, on average, while in the Israeli league he played in 19 games, scoring 6.9 points and giving 5.4 assists, per game.
He stated that he is “very happy to return to Israel and join one of the most historic teams in all of Europe. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and playing in front of the Maccabi crowd. I want to use my Euroleague experience to help the club. Let’s go Maccabi!”he said.
The coach of the Tel Aviv team, Odette Katas, did not hide his excitement, saying: “I am very happy that he is with us. Tamir is a very good organizer and has shown that he can hold his own at Eurolegaue level. He can help us on both ends of the floor and that’s a big upgrade. I am very happy to train him again.”
The technical director of Maccabi Tel Aviv, Avi Even, also spoke about his experience in the top interclub basketball event, showing his satisfaction with the arrival of Tamir Blatt at the club.
