Thessaloniki have announced the acquisition of the Tanzanian forward, who has signed a contract for 2+1 years and select the number “33”.

PAOK PAOK announces the acquisition of Ali Samata. The Tanzanian forward ended his cooperation with Fenerbahce and signed a cooperation contract with Dikefalos for 2+1 years. Samata will wear the jersey number 33.

Samata was born on December 23, 1992 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He initially joined the African Lyon academies. He started his professional career at Simba in Tanzania, before moving to Congo and TP Mazebe where he stayed for five seasons, playing in 133 games and scoring 85 goals, winning the African Champions League, and in 2016 he was named African Footballer of the Year.

His performance did not go unnoticed by Genk, who acquired him in January 2016. In four years in Belgium he experienced it all. He played in 191 matches, scored 76 goals, provided 20 assists, became the top scorer of the Belgian league for the 2018-19 season and helped the team win the championship.

The way to the next step has been opened. Aston Villa offered 10,500,000 euros to Genk in January 2020 and brought the Tanzanian to the top league of the planet. In six months he managed to become the first Tanzanian to play and score in the Premier League, wearing the Villa shirt in 16 games and scoring two goals.

The English team decided to grant him a loan for the next season. Fenerbahce initially acquired him on loan, while at the end of the season he was granted a regular transfer. In his first year in Turkey he made 30 appearances and scored six goals, but in the 2021-22 season he was loaned to Antwerp. In Antwerp, he made 39 appearances, scored nine goals and distributed five assists, to return to Turkey and leave again for Beglio.

He wore the shirt of Genk again had another busy season with 36 matches, six goals and one assist and decided to end his association with Fener and look for new challenges.
