Its opening ceremony world sailing championship was held yesterday Monday (24/07) at Bullet with the participation of dozens of athletes, a total of 440 crews from 46 countries of all the continents of the Earth.
THE Municipality of Volos took over the special celebration organized by the Nautical Club of Volos & Argonauts, contributing at the same time to the organization and conduct of the championship with modern facilities, hospitality areas for athletes and tourists, as well as the opening ceremony of the championship.
The opening ceremony began with the athletes parading along the promenade to the ceremony venue just outside the University of Thessaly. The parade was accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Volos and with the arrival of the athletes at the point of the event, greetings from the officials followed and then an artistic program, representative of modern and traditional Greek music, combined with international hits.
THE NOVA and Marble are hosting for the next few days the biggest nautical event, with the participation of 290 boys and 150 girls. The 440 athletes come from 47 countries and are up to 17 years old and are the next generation Olympianswhile Greece is represented by 88 athletes.
