Bajevic: “I am shocked by what happened – AEK’s game with Dinamo was rightly postponed”

by

On the Croatian website “jutarnji.hr” spoke Dusan Bajevic, who said he was shocked by the events in New Philadelphia, with the murderous attack by Dinamo Zagreb hooligans and the death of Michalis Katsouri, outside the AEK stadium.

I am sad, shocked. I cannot understand how a young man could lose his life in such a way. I know the place where the unfortunate incident happened, there are always a lot of AEK fans, especially younger kids. I can’t imagine a man dying in front of his pitch. It’s terrible what happened“, initially stated the Serbo-Greek former technician.

Regarding UEFA’s decision to postpone the game between the two teams, he emphasized: “It had to be postponed, because no one could guarantee safety in the stadium. The game wouldn’t even be over if it started, postponement was the only solution. There is no football when people die in such conditions. Football takes second place».

And he concluded by saying:This is a big “slap” for football. It is unacceptable that this should happen. I can’t understand it at all. I feel indescribably sorry for the deceased, his parents. The decision to postpone was the right one, human life and the grief of all those who lose loved ones in such a horrific way must be respected».
