“Dinamo, Hajduk and the Croatian FA under the UEFA microscope”

Security measures are at their highest in Croatia for tonight’s match between Hajduk and PAOK, after the tragic events in New Philadelphia, with the murderous attack by the hooligans of Dinamo Zagreb and the death of Michalis Katsouris.

In the context of another pro-Greek match, this time for the Europa Conference League, Juritsa Jurgevic spoke to the television station “Dnevnik Nova TV».

He is the head of the Croatian Federation for matters of prevention, safety and integrity of matches at the European level.

“This match is one of four that await us in the next ten days. Unfortunately, due to the unpleasant events in Athens, the eyes of the Croatian, Greek and European public are focused on these four matches. The first two are played in Croatia, we are also in contact with Dinamo and Hajduk. The first match is held in Split, and the reception of the representatives of the Greek club went well. There are no indications that something similar to what happened in Athens can happenJurgevic said.

He was then asked what would happen in the event that Greek fans turned up in Split, even though there is a ban on the movement of fans by UEFA.

“What I can say is that the Greek scenario will certainly not be repeated. The Croatian police have a lot of experience, unfortunately also with the fan movement. These matches are normally approached very seriously and thoroughly and in this case the security levels will be extra, so I rule out the possibility of riots”, was his reply.

What will happen when Dinamo and Hajduk visit Athens and Thessaloniki, respectively?

“We are in touch all the time. In the previous case, Dinamo did the right thing, submitted all the evidence and the Croatian police reacted. Now the situation is somewhat different. it will certainly not be convenient for anyone, even for the Dinamo players and the entire delegation that will travel to Greece. The Croatian police have also been put at the disposal of our clubs here. Communication is going very well, there will be quality preparation so that everything goes smoothly“, he added.

And he also talked about the sanctions with which the Croatian clubs are threatened if similar incidents are repeated.

“UEFA has already made a decision, the match in Athens has been postponed and the first one will take place in Zagreb. Dinamo and Hajduk will certainly be on trial and will be constantly under the microscope, as will the Croatian Football Association. This is in no way in our favor, I call on all fans to put only football first“, he emphasized.
