THE Mars prevailed 1-0 of Dynamo Kyiv in “Kl. Vikelidis” and got… the upper hand for qualifying for the Conference League playoffs, in view of next week’s rematch.
The coach of the Ukrainians, Mircea Lucescu, Hats off to the Thessalonians after the match, both for their appearance and for the their regular approachemphasizing, among other things, how the “yellows” could have scored a second goal.
Mircea Loucescu’s statements in detail:
“We had the ball but we were slow to get into the game. We did what we wanted only after the point that Aris took the lead in the score. Aris deserved to win, he got a penalty which was but we were not given a penalty which was also. I didn’t see anything I didn’t know from Mars.
He also took advantage of the atmosphere created by his fans. He has this advantage unlike us that we don’t have our fans. Aris played a smart tactic, he didn’t let us find lanes and the basic approach of the match was expecting not to concede a goal. I expected him to play more aggressively. But he found the goal he wanted.
The phases he made were in the second half and were a consequence of our own mistakes. In the second half Yarmolenko didn’t do what he should with Ferrari who did us a lot of damage. In fact, Aris could have made us 2-0.”
