Shocking Rudy on Rubio: ‘It bothers me that he needed a hug and we didn’t realize that’

A very unpleasant news became known a few days ago, as Ricky Rubio made the decision to retire from active action for reasons of mental health.

THE Rudy FernandezRubio’s teammate on the Spanish national team, made statements to MARCA stressing how bad he feels that he hadn’t understood the problems his friend was facing.

In detail what he said:

“Rubio and I have been together since we were 14 years old. We were holding each other’s hand. We stayed in the same room. In the 2019 Worlds we lived together and he was with me all the time because of my father and the death of my grandfather. Take me out to log out. It hurts me to be here now and not have realized that Ricky is not well. I was his closest teammate. I didn’t realize that he is not well.

It might not have changed a thing (if I had realized it) but I would have liked to give him a hug and that’s what I blame myself for. It is a feeling of helplessness, because a friend was not well and I did not understand. A hug is the most heartfelt and I wanted to give it to him. It bothers me that Ricky needed a hug and we couldn’t see it. It’s complicated because there are a lot of different things going on, but this team really is a family, we don’t say that for marketing reasons. I consider us family and we have each other in every moment, even the bad ones.”
