Postecoglou: “I took Romero off because he hit the head – We don’t play with these things”

by

THE Tottenham failed to start this year’s Premier League with a win, as it was tied 2-2 with Bradford.

One of the unlucky ones of the match was Christian Romero, who left as a substitute in the 14th minute after a blow to the head. THE Angelos PostecoglouTottenham’s new manager, spoke about the reasons that led him to the decision to replace the Argentine stopper, even though the latter did not want to leave the match.

In detail what he said:

“The medical team were very confident that we had to get him out. The player is not the one who listened in this situation. People like me have to plug it and listen to the doctors, so that’s what he did.

We are past the stage of coaches or players trying to be funny about these things. It’s clear that the protocols are there for a reason, and the player’s well-being is paramount. so decisions will be made by people who know the subject better than I do.

It’s pretty clear why we replaced him. It’s black or white for us, we’re not going to take chances with our people when we know what the consequences are. It looks good, but the player is not the one who knows these things.”
