“Lobster” Zagreb: These are the security measures for Dinamo-AEK

Ready to welcome AEK and ensure the smooth conduct of the Dinamo match, in Maksimir, in the Zagreb area, the Croatian police say.

Since the Champions League qualifying match has been labeled a “high-risk match”, local authorities have been briefed on security measures to prevent any untoward incident on and off the pitch.

In fact, they provide detailed information on prohibited items, disallowed behavior and, of course, anyone without a ticket has no business trying to enter the stadium.

The announcement of the Croatian Police on the security measures in Zagreb and at the Dinamo stadium for the match with AEK

On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 20.00 in Zagreb, at “Maksimir City Stadium”, an international football match for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers will be held between GNK Dinamo and AEK FC. This match has been marked as a high risk match, and accordingly the police will take all security measures throughout the day with an adequate number of police officers.

In order to maintain a favorable state of public order and peace on the route to and from the match, as well as the smooth conduct of the match, the police will take measures and actions within their competence, in accordance with the Law on Police Duties and Powers, the Law on the Prevention of Riots at Sports Games and the Law on Public Assemblies.

Despite UEFA’s decision to ban the sale of tickets to away fans, a large number of local fans are expected and we invite them to familiarize themselves with the instructions and recommendations in the following press release.

Notice for visitors/spectators

Entrances to the Maksimir Stadium will be open from 6pm, so we invite visitors to head to the stadium early and, if possible, use Public Transport to avoid overcrowding. Please note the special traffic regulation that will apply.

Special traffic regulation in the area of ​​the city of Zagreb, especially around the stadium

On the day of the match on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the organizer in cooperation with police officers and in accordance with the Previous Agreement of the Office of Reconstruction, Building, Spatial Planning, Building, Community Affairs and Traffic of the City of Zagreb, as well as the Decision of the Zagreb Police Administration , for the establishment of a special regulation of traffic in such a way that from 6 in the morning it is closed to all traffic:

• parking lot from the “Discus Thrower” monument to the west parking lot of Maksimir Stadium,

• service road from Budakova street and the former Borongaj market to the Svetica swimming pool complex, i.e. to the west parking lot of the Maksimir city stadium,

• the former Borongaj market car park and driver training area, except for vehicles accredited by the organizer;

• Hitrecova Street and the parking lot on Hitrecova Street,

• parking in the Svetice swimming pool complex,

• parking in front of the west stand of the Maksimir City Stadium, except for vehicles accredited by the organizer,

• West parking lot of the Faculty of Economics-Zagreb at JF Kennedy Square.

Special traffic regulation measures will be in effect until 24:00 (midnight).

Compliance with the Law on the Prevention of Riots at Sports Games

At the entrances to the stadium, the security service carries out checks. According to the Law on the Prevention of Harassment at Sports Games, it is prohibited:

• importing or attempting to import alcoholic beverages and drugs, as well as entering and staying in the sports facility while intoxicated,

• bringing fireworks, weapons and other objects suitable for causing injury or creating disorder and violence;

• lighting and throwing fireworks, as well as lighting other fan accessories,

• covering the face with a hat, scarf or other means in order to hide the identity,

• the introduction and marking of banners, flags or other things with text or images, signs or other features that express or incite hatred or violence based on racial, national, regional or religious beliefs;

• singing songs or posting messages whose content expresses or incites hatred or violence based on racial, national, regional or religious beliefs;

• unauthorized entry attempt, i.e. unauthorized entry into the playing area or the spectator area and the area reserved for referees or other persons participating in a sports match,

• throwing objects onto the playing field i

• accommodation and staying in a place in the spectator area for which you do not have a ticket or a corresponding document issued by the organizer.

Any observed illegal behavior will be punished in accordance with the Prevention of Disturbances in Sports Act and other laws. Among other things, the following will be prohibited from entering the stadium:

• visitors under the influence of alcohol,

• to people who do not have a ticket,

• to a visitor found to be in possession of prohibited items and

• people who are likely to endanger the safety of everyone at the match.
