Vaiannidis: “Everything we experienced is a dream – My biggest game in terms of experience”

For this incredible evening: “I don’t even have the courage to speak now. I have no words. Everything we lived through is a dream. But in a day or two, the mind must go to the next game to be able to achieve what we dream of”.

On what changed at halftime: “We didn’t get into the game well. It was what we feared. Let’s get into the game and concede a goal in the first few minutes. Then our psychology definitely fell a bit with the goal we conceded, because we essentially lost the small advantage we had.

We pressed and conceded a second goal, again at a very bad time, at the end of the first half. In the dressing room we talked, we said some things, that we need a goal to turn the game around. The goal came the way it came, maybe with a bit of luck, maybe with the persistence we had at the end and from then on the overtime went the way it went and we ended up in the penalty shootout where we won the game”.

On whether this is the match of his career: “Depending on how you look at it. In terms of experience and success it was definitely the match of my career, in terms of performance no, because I think I did some things well, but there were others that I could have done better.”
