Lesor: “I am physically ready for the World Cup – Panathinaikos wanted to see how I would recover”

He went through a very difficult time Matias Lessor.

His new center Panathinaikou suffered an ankle problem which jeopardized his participation for France in World Cup.

Nevertheless, Mr Lessor overcame his problem and traveled, albeit belatedly, to Jakartawhere the “blue” will give their matches, talking about what he experienced recently.

In detail what he said:

How original is it to arrive alone for an event, without teammates, without coaches?

“It was too much! Luckily I was excited to arrive so it went a little faster. I arrived Monday afternoon in Jakarta. I visited the hotel, I walked in the hotel (laughs). I found the mall and played a lot of X-Box.”

Rumor has it that you were on the Metropolitan’s premises last week…

“I tried to find my feet and my rhythm. I thank the people of the Metropolitan for welcoming me. They allowed me to test myself and see if I was ready for 5v5.”

Have you ever doubted your ability to make it to the World Cup?

“It was a sprain and it lasted a long time. I am new to Panathinaikos, so my team had to check me and see how I will recover. It was a bit publicized but in the end it was just a sprain. All the questions were stressful. At some point I was no longer in control. Between doctors, security… But physically I felt like I would be ready. It’s just that when you’re not in control, it’s hard to deal with emotions.”

Vincent Collet never stopped explaining that he was waiting for you. How do you feel about that assurance?

“He helped me follow the recovery. My coach was waiting for me, my teammates were texting me. I felt wanted and it kept me in the mood when I had my man between two chairs. I wasn’t on holiday or in the France team.”

Do you have the will to prove that you are a different player from 2019?

“The things we have to prove are collective. I personally don’t see it as a challenge even though as a competitor I obviously want to do well. Above all, I want to prove that they didn’t wait for me in vain”

Landed 48 hours before the start of the tournament, will you be the coach’s surprise against Canada?

“Unfortunately one of the assistants was my assistant manager at Malaga, so he will be able to give them a pretty accurate scouting report on me.”
