Zisis Sarikopoulos returns to Iraklis. The “blue and white” announced the acquisition of the Greek center for next year, in order to claim, after that, the acquisition of Sten Stock, with claims of his return to the Basket League next season.
Sarikopoulos competed again in Iraklis in 2021, while last season he wore the shirt of PAOK and Karditsa.
In detail, the announcement:
“The basketball department announces the start of cooperation with the international center, Zisi Sarikopoulos (33, 2.13), for the coming season and welcomes him back to Ivanofeio, as he will wear the jersey of our team for the second time after the 2020- 2021.
Zisis played in the youth team of Olympiakos, scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds per game, as a result of which he was acquired by the University of Alabama at Bermigham in the USA. He then transferred to Ohio State University, studying business administration.
In the summer of 2007, he played with the UAB Blazers. During his stay in the USA, he was awarded for his talent along with 12 of his peers by Michael Jordan himself at the ‘Jordan Brand All American Classic’ in New York.
He graduated in 2010 and, returning to Greece, played for two seasons (2010-2012) in Panionios. The following season (2012-2013), he played for Aris, followed by AEK (2014-2016), Prometheus Patras (2016-2017), a return to Panionios (2017-2018) and then (2018-19) he played to the Belarusian champion, Minsk, with whom he won the double.
In the 2019-20 season he was in PAOK and continued the 2020-21 season in our team, while last year (2021-22) he played in the Qatar league with Al Sadd, with which he won the championship and the Emir Cup, having averaged 18.5 points, 14.7 rebounds and 22 double doubles in 30 games! Last year he played for PAOK and Karditsa.
Zisis Sarikopoulos has been a member of all the National teams. He has been named European champion twice, with the National Youth Team in 2008 and with the National Youth Men’s Team in 2009. He also won the second place and the silver medal in the Eurobasket for Youth in 2007, in the World Youth Championship in 2009, but also in the Junior Men’s Eurobasket in 2010.
