EFOEPA published on Friday the notices for the interclub championships and the Table Tennis Cups, as well as the general notice for all of its competitions. Given the changes in the number of teams, but also in the way the championships are conducted, we will focus on key points of the inter-club announcements.
The A1 and A2 National men’s category, for example, will have eight teams from this year, as was decided last year in general for the two biggest categories.
The A1 men’s-women’s national division will take place from November 11-12, 2023 to April 20-21, 2024. Playoffs are planned and will take place on March 30-31 for the top four teams (places 1-4, which will highlight the champion) and for the rest, i.e. places 5-8, after the matches of the two rounds (with the last team being relegated).
The finale will be written in April with the classic play-offs for two places in next season’s A1.
Athletes who do not have the right to participate in the National team, in order to compete in the play-off or play-off matches in any category, must have participated in at least 50% of the category’s matches in the two-round phase.
In the composition of each team in each match of all categories, an athlete with the right to participate in the National teams must be included in the individual team. Foreign athletes who are transferred from foreign clubs have the right to compete only in the interclub hierarchy championships and in the Cup competitions.
The matches of both National categories will be held together. The seats of the matches will be finalized after the draw. The period for the participation declarations of the associations started on Friday and will last until Tuesday 05/09 at 14:00.
Additional declarations of participation will follow from Wednesday 06/09 to Tuesday 12/09 at 14:00 and they concern the places that arise in the inter-club category due to non-declaration of participation of the teams that have the right to compete.
The program of the competitions in terms of the gymnasiums and the number of competitions in each two-day period of A1 and A2 will be formed with the completion of the participation declarations.
In the progressive “knockout” of the playoffs, two mini-tables of four are formed, one for places 1-4 and one for places 5-8, where the first team of the single group stage meets the fourth and the second and third.
In the second match, the winners of the first two matches compete for first and second place and the losers for third and fourth. Accordingly, the matches go for the teams that were ranked in the single group stage in positions 5-8.
The system of conducting each match does not change. The winner is the team that will first win four victories in the seven separate matches. Each team participates with a minimum of three athletes and a maximum of five. At 3-3 it becomes a double.
For both A1 and A2 the draws will be conducted by E.F.O.E.P.A. on Tuesday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m.
