In detail, the announcement of Ionikos:
Less than a month remains for the premiere of the men’s basketball team in A ESKANA. As it has been reported on this page, Ionikos is making a total restart, revising the presence and the attitude it has maintained in recent years in A1, where it led to the total discredit of the team.
The changes we want – and will see – will start from the team’s competitive image, its administrative presence as well as the team’s relationship with the fans. Besides, let’s not forget that the department is now managed by people-fans of Ionian and not by “professional” presidents and “big players”.
However, the time has come – due to the continuous tragic events of recent years – to open a dialogue about our relations with the other groups. Specifically, having seen people murdered for the group they support, it’s time for US to be the change we want to see in the world. The time has come to put an end to these sad events.
Therefore, we are openly asking the sports fans of the Ionian – organized and not – from every Nikaio who will be at Plato on Monday nights this year to protect EVERY rival team that will be hosted in our stadium.
We ask that our voices, our celebrations, our adrenaline be channeled from the first to the last minute to OUR IONIC and not to how we will reduce or curse the opposing athletes and referees. Let’s not forget that we are now mainly talking about amateur athletes, for whom basketball is their hobby and joy.
We want to be able to compete against all teams, even the Progressive team that is in the same group as us, without witnessing new tragic events from either side. We can compete, within the four lines the athletes and in the stands the fans, just to give our team a boost!
So we ask the question today – shortly before the start of the championship – do we want a better tomorrow? It is first of all in our hands! To finally put an end to this fury so that there won’t be another Alkis and another Michalis.
No flowers, no wishes, no crocodile tears. This will be the true tribute to every child who has died from fan violence…
Sincerely, A.O. Ionic
