On Wednesday, the draw for the third category of stage 1 of the European Table Tennis Championship 2023, ie the qualifiers, took place and the day of the draw for the representative teams of the first and second categories will be announced soon.
Greece will be at the second level for both men and women, but, of course, it will make its new European “journey” with increased and this time the chances for qualifying for the final phase. Traditionally, she is always present at the big date and this is what she wants to do for the upcoming European Team Championship, which will be held in Malm., Sweden, on September 10-17, 2023.
44 national teams have declared their participation in the process. In men 42 and in women 40. In the end it will be directly the holder of the title, in men and women, Germany, and, of course, the “host” Sweden.
Last September, in the corresponding European Championship in Romania, Greece was excluded in the first phase, remaining in third place in its groups. It does not have a high position in the international evaluation tables and, thus, from the first category, which was for the 2021 European Championship, the Men’s National was found for the new qualifying stage in the second category. In women, our country is consistently fighting in the second category in recent years.
The European Table Tennis Association noted that the day of the draw for the groups of A and B groups will be announced soon, while mentioning the teams that make up each of the three categories of qualifiers.
In the first category of men participate: Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine.
In the first category of women participate: Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine.
In the second category of men, Greece is together with: Bosnia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Luxembourg, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Turkey.
In the second category of women, apart from Greece, are: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, England, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway and Wales.
The qualifiers will start on the three days of April 1-3, 2022 with the teams of the third category. On Wednesday, the C groups were drawn, as ETTU calls this level, and two groups emerged, which also include the national teams of Cyprus.
From stage 1, three countries from each group will qualify for the B groups, that is, they are automatically added to the candidate opponents of Greece. A total of six national teams in the men and as many in the women will advance to the next stage.

In the B: Bulgaria, Norway, Iceland, Kosovo, Latvia, and Georgia
Women’s groups:
