Achilles, congratulations, you are a bronze World Champion. How do you experience this great title?
“Really what I’ve experienced since the World Championship and after is unique. Very strong feelings that will be etched in my life forever. It’s an amazing feeling to finally be among the best athletes in the world in the sport I love so much”
In your first participation in a World Championship you won a medal. How did you feel when you got on the podium?
“When I got on the podium I felt so proud. So many hours of hard training, so many sacrifices finally paid off. I made it. I felt proud that I deservedly represented my country, my federation and my team Olympios Katerinis”
In the minor final you had a great performance. What made you so cool to go in and not give your Russian opponent any room?
“I thought that now is my chance to prove that so many years of hard work will pay off and I didn’t want to lose this medal in any way. I’ve come fifth in the past in a major event and I didn’t want the same to happen at the World Championship. I came in determined and just wanted a result”
What is your next goal?
“My next goal is the world sand wrestling championship (in my other great love along with Greco-Roman) in Romania, and the Mediterranean beach sports games to be held in Crete.”
Where would you like to dedicate your medal?
“I would like to dedicate it first to a person who believed in me the most, he knows who he is, also to my coaches, my teammates who helped me in my preparation every morning and afternoon every day, my sponsors, my family and of course the Hellenic Wrestling Federation which believed in me and helped me participate in a series of matches until this coveted medal came.”
