After qualifying with two wins (30-21, 28-33) against the Swedish side, Eastlands, Hannover qualified and became the team that completes its group AEK in the EHF European League.
The matches begin October 17 while the group stage ends on December 5th. After the qualification of the German team, the 2nd group of AEK now consists of Gornik Zabrze (Poland), Kriens Lucerne (Switzerland) and Reken-Hannover (Germany).
They advance to the “16”. top two of each group where they carry over the points from each other’s matches they will form Main Round Group 1.
the top two groups of groups C and D will form Main Round Group 2.
the top two groups of groups E and F will form Main Round Group 3.
the top two groups of groups G and H will form Main Round Group 4.
The schedule of matches will be determined in the coming days by the EHF.
In the new format of the event, it is foreseen that the 32 teams will compete in 8 groups divided into 4 groups.
The top two teams in each group advance to the main roundwhere they are divided again into 4 groups of 4 teams.
The first of the groups advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the teams ranked second and third play play-offs, in home and away matches. After the quarterfinals, the four best teams advance to the Final 4scheduled for May 25/26, 2024.
