The Men’s basketball team of PANIONIO G.S.S. is pleased to announce the reaching of an agreement with international athlete Ian Vouyouka who will strengthen the effort during the period 2023-2024.
Recommendations are unnecessary for Ian Vouyouka. He was born on 31/5/1985 in London and is 2.11 meters tall. He competes in the center position.
He started learning basketball at Aris Glyfadas and then played at Kronos Agios Dimitrios and Elysiakos. In 2002 he was in the USA and specifically in the NCAA with Saint Louis University.
In 4 seasons and 110 total games (85 in the top five) he averaged 9.5 points- 5.8 rebounds- 1.1 assists- 1.2 blocks on 52% shooting and 65% shooting.
In June 2007, he signed a three-year contract with Olympiakos and in his first professional season in Greece he played on loan to Rethymnon where he averaged 11.2 points and 6 rebounds, earning him the best rookie award in championship.
In the 2008-2009 season, he played for Olympiakos both in the Greek league (16 games – 5.5 points and 2.7 rebounds) and in the Euroleague (7 games), while with his team he reached the Final Four of the competition in Berlin.
The following season he was given a “loan” to Panhellenic. With 13.1 points – 5.9 rebounds in the championship, he was one of the main players of the team, while in the Eurocup (where his team reached the Final Four) he had 12 points – 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.
He was also the first rebounder and blocker of the league.
In the summer of 2010 he agreed with Panathinaikos and after a few months he celebrated the conquest of the Greek championship and the Euroleague. He had another productive season while staying with the team in 2011-2012 as well, winning another Cup while advancing to another Euroleague Final Four.
Then he was at Unics Kazan with which he won the Russian Cup, Galatasaray and Ulm.
In 2015, he signed a cooperation contract with Zalgiris Kaunas, with which he became the Lithuanian champion.
Lokomotiv Kuban followed and in July 2017 he returned to Panathinaikos and won four more championships (2018-2019-2020-2021) and two more Cups (2019-2021).
With the Youth National Team he won the silver medal at the 2005 World Championships and with the Youth National Team the bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships.
He competed in the Men’s National Team for the first time in 2009 when he won the silver medal at the Mediterranean Games. He was also present at the World Championships in 2010 and 2014. With the National team he has 45 matches (268 points).
