Tsitsipas missed the opportunity from senior Medvedev

by

Despite the great effort, two months after his elbow surgery, the Stefanos Tsitsipas lost 3-1 sets (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4, 6-1) by Daniel Medvedev in the semifinal of the Australian Open after 2.5 hours and more, the Russian will face Rafael Nadal in the final, aiming to take the title and climb to No.1 in the world rankings!

On the other hand, the Spanish legend of the sport wants … at all costs the cup, in order to reach the 21 Grand Slam and leave behind him with 20, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Today’s match was marked by the protests of the Russian, while Stefanos will continue to fight to return even stronger!

The match

The first set had absolutely to do with the service of the two players. Whoever had the opportunity to have the ball took the set with great ease. An exception was when in the 9th game the Russian went to make the break (reached 0-40), but the Greek tennis player turned it around! Tsitsipas could not get points with anything when Medvedev had the serve, but he managed and sent the set to the tiebreak. There he got huge lead (4-1), but his opponent showed his class and made it 1-0 in the sets with 5-7.

Stefanos was not intimidated at all by the fact that he was behind the score and started with break (1-0). Then he seemed to have the upper hand, but Daniel found the solutions and answered (3-3), but fantastic Tsitsipas did it again and again went ahead (5-4)! The Greek super star endured and with a gun the people who were clearly on his side, equalized in 1-1 set (6-4)!

In the beginning, the third set looked like carbon with the first, since Tsitsipas and Medvedev kept their service either easy or difficult and everything showed that they would be led to a tie break. Nevertheless, with Stefanos serving the games at 4-5, the Russian made his counterattack and took a lead of 0-40! The Greek athlete fought it, but was found back with 2-1 (4-6).

The fourth and final set, as it turned out, belonged rightfully to the Russian who showed early on his dispositions with his stability. Medvedev made two breaks for 1-3 and 1-5, at a point where Tsitsipas had completely surrendered and lost to 1-6, score that clearly proves the image of the set.
