Pogba on his blackmail case: “I thought about giving up football”

The thought that the money and fame he has acquired through football is a curse was previously expressed by Paul Pogbawho had fallen victim of blackmail with his own brother allegedly as one of the perpetrators.

In August 2022, her superstar Juventus was holed up overnight in an apartment in Seine-et-Marne, France, by armed hooded men, following a video posted by his brother, Matthias, in which he said “big revelations are coming” about Paul.

The kidnappers demanded 13 million from the “Bianconeri” midfielder, in order for him to ensure his freedom and safety.

The 30-year-old spoke to Al-Jazzera about this very story, but also about the feelings it gave him.

Money changes people. They can tear a family apart. They can create wars“, he said characteristically. “Sometimes I was alone and I said to myself: ‘I don’t want to have money anymore. I don’t want to play anymore. I just want to be with normal people, who love me for who I am, not for fame or money.’“, he added.
