For the EPO’s attempt to cover up betting fraudsters, Mr Kyriakos Thomaidis through News Bulletin 247 commenting on her announcement issued by the federation after the revelations about the “discounts” revealed to be given to teams involved in match-fixing.
“We are talking about an announcement-monument from the EPO. FIFA does not talk about match fixing for serious and lesser offences. Nothing more false than what the EPO claims in its announcement. FIFA puts every case of manipulation in the same bag, while unlike disciplinary offenses there is a classification. Rather than being ashamed of it, the federation boasts that no Greek team has been punished for match-fixing“, he emphasized.
“When you make the code more lenient, you show that you are going to cover something up, favoring cheaters and doing football a disservice. This was the gross trick to get rid of the bet cheats“, he added, while appearing confident that there will be intervention by FIFA and that criminal charges are coming.
“FIFA, which was already in the process of intervention, will intervene decisively, there is no way to let it go, but now they will be judged with the most lenient provisions. I believe that by the beginning of October we will have criminal charges because the case is very serious, perhaps the most serious in the annals of Greek football“, concluded.
