Kouiroukidis on sport-fm.gr: “Levadiakos has been built to return to where he belongs”

THE Michalis Kouiroukidis contributed the most to historic rise of Kifissia in the Stoiximan Super League last year, however the new season found him back in Super League 2, this time in his shirt Levadeikou.

The 28-year-old striker therefore made perhaps the best debut he could have made, as he came on as a substitute in the away match of Voiots against Ilioupoli for the 3rd phase of the Greek Novibet Cup and opened the scoring with a close-range effort in the 3rd minute of extra time – with his team to win 2-1 thanks to a well-placed penalty kick by Nika.

After the match, the tall centre-forward spoke to sport-fm.gr and the John Polias for the qualification but also the goals of his new team.

Starting with the goal he scored and the double in Ilioupoli, Kouiroukidis said how “I’m very happy, my goal is always, whenever I enter the match to help and a striker does that with a goal or an assist. Ideal that came today, in a difficult match.

I know Ilioupoli, what a well-worked team they are and I am happy because even though it was difficult to qualify – and a goal that made me even happier. A striker lives by scoring goalsyou can’t understand, the feeling is incomparable to anything else, even in training.”



Certainly a good course in the Cup is welcome for his team Nikos Niopliahowever the big goal is for the team to immediately return to… living rooms.

“We don’t talk big, this is how the team is built, with an amazing roster with many good players, for to return to where he belongs, in the A’ category. It’s not a grandiose statement, it’s the truth, our first goal” the words of the Greek attacker, who, referring to his personal goal, emphasized that “I’m aiming for a double-digit number of goals again, along with assists, I want to make my teammates happy. Certainly a double-digit number of goals will make me happy.”

Koiroukidis did not fail to talk about the atmosphere he encountered in Livadia, going to a team that had been relegated from the top division. As he said, “The atmosphere in the team is excellent, I didn’t expect it. There are a lot of guys left from the Stoiximan Super League and they helped a lot us youngsters to acclimatize very quickly. And the people of the team have done everything we have needed so far.”

In closing, he was asked to answer whether he expects a third promotion to be… medicinal, with himself remaining on the roster for the A’ division – something that has not happened in the past in Ionian and Kifissia.

“We’ll see that, the goal is to help the team get promotion, I won’t talk big because things change from day to day for me. I wish I could also be in the first division with the team”his words.
