Ibora: “It was impossible to stay in Levante and I came to Olympiakos for titles and Europe”

Statements about the reasons he chose to play for Olympiakos, about his first months in Greece, but also about his future, were given by Vithene Ibora.

The 36-year-old midfielder spoke to “Marca” radio and emphasized that after he failed to stay in Levante (where he did everything in his power to make it happen) chose the “red and whites” to win titles and play in European competitions again.

His statements in detail:

For the first months in Greece: “They are very good, I am happy. I have good feelings about the club and the team. We are a lot of young footballers but we started well by qualifying and winning all matches so far in the league. There are quite a few Spaniards and there are also Argentinians. We are also grateful to the Greeks for opening their doors to us.”

How did your transfer to Greece come about: “My agent told me about the possibility of Olympiakos, but we did everything possible to stay in Levante. It was impossible and this opportunity of Olympiakos gave me the option to compete for titles and play in Europe again.”

How it feels: “The most important thing is everyone’s feelings to see what they are aiming for. Last season was difficult, but I finished with good feelings even though I didn’t get promoted with Levante.”

The family: “I couldn’t live without her. Coming to Greece is an experience that comforts my children and makes them grow and improve. Now that they are young it is a good opportunity for them.”

Levante leaving: “The first intention after the fateful match with Alaves was to continue. I wanted to continue to help regardless of the category we were in. However, the weeks went by and we were talking to LaLiga and in the end I couldn’t continue and had to look elsewhere.”

The future: “I would like to continue playing football. But what I want now is to enjoy what I like best. The work of coaching attracts my attention and I try to learn in case one day I have to put it into practice.”
