Apostolos Tsitsipas spoke about the effort of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Davis Cup at the press conference after the first day of the Davis Cup matches, which are being held in Kallimarmaro against Slovakia.
The head of the Greek delegation referred to the changes that may be made to the composition of the double, saying: “Absolutely. We will sit down with the technical staff of the team and with the players and we will make the decision on how we will proceed competitively tomorrow. You will be notified of the decision when it is made. So, yes, there is a chance for change.”
Regarding the games of the first day, he said: “Alexandros (s.s. Skorilas) had moments when he could have changed the course of the match, but that did not happen. As an experience it was good for him as he saw the level and how much he has to work. He was playing with a top level player. Stefanos’ match had two faces. In the first set the opponent took all his energy and in the tie break he took the set, but obviously after that Stefanos showed his quality. He kept the level high and took advantage of the opportunities he found and took the set, only for Klein to give up who had no strength. At these levels, you can see the preparation of every player who enters the field to compete,” he said.
