We know that in NBA and in sports in general, the sums have escaped in recent years, and as it turns out, they are expected to rise even more.
In the “magical world”, the new “fad” is supermax contracts, a type of deal that only applies to the… best of the best, and players who meet certain criteria, which you can see below.
Both are required:
1. Have played a minimum of 7 seasons in the NBA
2. Accept the supermax offer from the team that drafted them or took their rookie contract via trade
One of the following:
1. Be named MVP in one of the last three seasons
2. Defensive Player of the Year in the past season or in two of the last three seasons
3. Be in one of the top five last season or in two of the last three seasons
Based on these criteria, there are seven players who in the coming years are very likely to receive such a contract. Right now, the biggest deal is his Jaylen Brownwho signed for $304 million, but some of those below will likely surpass him.
The following supermaxes:
Luka Dodic (Dallas Mavericks)
Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets)
De’Aaron Fox (Sacramento Kings)
Shay Alexander Gilgeous (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat)
Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors)
Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies)
