Tomas Sora will be the new passer of Athlos Orestiada. TTA Evro announced the signing of the 24-year-old Canadian to replace Edvins Skruders, who left the club suddenly on Monday morning.
Last season, Sora competed for the Austrian Reid Increase.

“The administration of TAA Athlos Orestiada is pleased to announce the start of cooperation with international Canadian athlete Tomas Sorra, in the context of further strengthening our team, in view of the Volleyleague season 2023-2024. Athlos Orestiada will be the second professional team in the career of the 24-year-old former passer of the Austrian Ried, who is already in Greece to integrate into the preparation of our club.
Tomas Sora was born on January 19, 1999 in Toronto, Canada, he is 1.90 tall, and due to his origins in Estonia, he holds both Canadian and Estonian citizenship.
He grew up playing volleyball and beach volleyball in his hometown among some very talented players and coaches. He has been involved in the sport for 14 years, having come through the Canadian youth club system and the University of Calgary Team. Alongside his studies in Economics, as an athlete for the University of Calgary ‘Dinos’ team he celebrated winning the bronze medal in the U SPORTS championship.
His outstanding performances, in addition to his university distinction, earned him his last season and his maiden professional contract with the Austrian UVC McDonalds Ried/Innkreis, with whom he finished fourth in the league, fifth in the Austrian Cup, while also participating in in the CEV Challenge Cup.
Our newest addition to our team is an international with the Canadian U21 National Volleyball Team, which he led to second place in the U21 Pan American Games in 2018, and has also represented his country in major international beach volleyball events.
In his first official statements upon his arrival at the airport ‘Dimokritos’, where he was welcomed by the president, George Tsolakidis, and the member of the TAA, Nikos Ouzounidis, the Canadian new ‘maestro’ of the team said: ‘Hello everyone, my name is Tom Sora and I am excited to compete in the Greek championship with the colors of Athlos Orestiada. I’m really looking forward to starting training with my team and getting to know my new team-mates, the coaching staff and the people at the club better.
I know that there are amazing players competing in this year’s league, which undoubtedly promises an exciting season and is an additional personal motivation to give my best on the court, playing every game to win.
