Her his resignation from the presidency of KED submitted today with a relevant letter o Steve Bennett. The Englishman in this letter, admits that he had appointed Greek referees in the big Super League derby, that of Panathinaikos with AEK next Monday, and that he could not do otherwise and not resign from the moment he was intervention of the President of the EPOTakis Baltakou for the appointment of foreign arbitrators.
“I was left with no other choice, after the intervention of the president of the federation, in the game Panathinaikos – AEK where I had appointed a Greek team of referees”. Bennett specifically mentions in his letter.
Steve Bennett’s letter states in detail…
“Dear friends and colleagues. It is with great regret that I inform you of my decision to resign from the position of Chief Referee of the Referees Committee.
I was left with no other choice, after the intervention of the president of the federation, in the Panathinaikos – AEK game where I had appointed a Greek team of referees.
The President went to UEFA to find a foreign team and then waited for me to announce the change as a decision of the KED.
Throughout my time here, I have acted with integrity, honesty, but most importantly within the framework of UEFA and FIFA referee regulations.
Unfortunately, the Federation does not seem to want to follow the same path. I want to thank you all for your support and friendship during my time here – I will miss you all terribly, but I hope you will continue to push yourself even harder to be the best.

The EPO is now being asked to accept Steve Bennett’s resignation, which is expected to happen during the day at the meeting of the federation’s Emergency Committee.
