Yannis Masouras on sport-fm.gr: “I feel as if I’ve been in Kifissia for 2-3 years”

THE Kifissia made extensive transfer moves in the summer, wanting to strengthen in view of its historic, first appearance in the Stoiximan Super League.

Of course, it is still early in the season, but already some of the acquired footballers have stood out and show that the decision of the managers of the newcomers to move for their transfer was correct.

His case is typical Yannis Masourawho repatriated after a semester in Poland and Między Legnica to wear the deep blue of Kifissia.

Initially commenting on the result of Karaiskakis, Yannis Masouras stated that “We were playing against a very good team, they had already lost on Thursday so they wanted a win to break out. If we had converted the three chances we had in the first 15 minutes into a goal, then they would have had a little more pressure and would not have come out so easily to attack. We conceded two goals in each half but I don’t think our image was for that score.”

A week before, Kifissia had given another match that had a lot of goals. To be precise… twice as many as those of Faliros, with the impressive 4-4 against Panseraikos. In a match that found the Athenians losing 3-0 in the 22nd minute at home, it took a magnificent turnaround to equalise.

“We didn’t have any particular discussion at half-time, we just had a purpose from the start to play a certain way. It didn’t work out for us in the first 20 minutes, Panserraikos scored three goals with three chances. What we had to do was go out there and believe it, execute the plan that we had planned all week.

We scored a quick goal, the 2nd came as well, when we conceded the 4th it made things difficult but the image we showed at the end was the one we should have shown from the beginning”said the Greek footballer.

The conversation then turned to Masoura’s decision to join Kifissia, as well as the start of the season. As he said, “when you talk to some people from the team, who you know who they are and you know their career – I personally talked to Stefano Kotsoli– there was no doubt about whether I will come to the team. From the first phone call we agreed, there was no doubt. And I came and found a team that I already feel like I’ve been in for 2-3 years, it’s impressive.

The 3-0 against PAS Ioannina was a bit heavy, although our image was not for such a score. From there, I think we have shown character. With PAOK we lost with an own goal, then with Atromitos it was a very positive result. It was a mistake with Panserraikos, especially the start, because you want to play the match at home against the team that was also promoted from the second national team. I think we have built an image and we will press on it, we will continue to work to reach the goal of the stay».

In closing, the Patrian footballer commented on his return to “G. Karaiskakis” as an opponent, after 4.5 years in which he belonged to Olympic but he was limited to three appearances, at the same time going on loan from Panionio, AEL, Gornik Zambrze and Sparta Rotterdam.

“I made acquaintances, of course there aren’t that many who have stayed in the team anymore. What I have left from Olympiakos is that the people around the team loved me from the beginning, I made friends with the kids. Nothing more than that and beyond”he said.
