THE Christoph Freud undertook to fill the void left by Hasan Salihamidzic in the previous months, however, sports director of Bayern Munich he saw an off-match issue put him in the crosshairs of his own team’s fans.

You see, the interest shown by the club in his return Jerome Boateng in the previous days, he brought reactions from the friends of the Bavarians, who did not look favorably on the possibility of the experienced defender returning.

And that’s because the experienced footballer has been convicted in the past for attack at the expense of his ex-partner, while he had also been linked to her suicide of another girl with whom he had a relationship.

So when he was asked to comment on the reactions of the fans, Freud had stated that “the sports part is what is most important for us. Personal issues are not a big deal. Everyone can have their opinions.”

The above words carried a banner from Bayern’s friends at match with Freiburgwith the message stating how “Misogynist violence is not a personal issue. We stand by our values. Or is regulation and awareness just marketing?”

It is worth noting that the friends of Werder Bremen did something similar, with a banner saying how “violence against women is not a personal issue. Christoph Freud, shut up.”

Freud stood for the banner of his team’s supporters, saying that “Bayern has its values. It was a special situation, we were looking for a stopper ten days ago. In the end, we decided together.”

Boateng of course never returned to the Bavarians, remaining without a club after being released by Lyon in the summer.
