EPO: “The proposal for Freudfeld was approved, discussions with him are being completed”


He proceeds to hire him Peter Freudfeld the EPOwhich informed on Tuesday afternoon (10/10) that the Federation’s Executive Committee approved the proposal for the Swede to take over the position of chief referee.

The relevant announcement states that discussions with him are expected to be completed within the next few days.

The Executive Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation during today’s meeting approved the recommendation of the Professional Football Committee according to which the Swedish Peter Freudfeld is qualified for the position of the president of the Central Refereeing Committee.

Discussions with him to take over the position will be completed within the next few days.

Short Biography of Peter Freudfeld:

-Referee from 1996 to 2008

-International Referee 2001-2008

-Referee of the 2008 UEFA Cup Final Zenit St. Petersburg-Rangers

-Referee at Euro 2008, he was the 4th referee in the Germany-Spain final and the 4th referee in the Portugal-Germany semi-final, while he also whistled in the Netherlands-Italy and Turkey-Czech Republic group stage games

-From 2009 to 2019 he was responsible for the Swedish Football Association for the appointment of referees in the first division of the Swedish league (league), mentor of Swedish top-class referees, referee seminars, referee development plan, ratings referees etc

-From 2010 to 2019 he was a UEFA referee observer

-Since 2007, he has been working in the Municipality of Eskilstuna, Sweden, which is his birthplace, having held various managerial positions

-In 2004 he was named Sweden’s top referee in a vote by the coaches of the country’s teams

-In 2008 he won the first “WorldReferee’s golden whistle” award

-In 2009 he was one of the five referees featured in the UEFA Euro 2008 documentary “Kill the Referee”. The documentary was used by UEFA to train referees and one of his catchphrases made famous in the refereeing world from this documentary was “Expect the Unexpected”
