For fifth consecutive day shocking and bloody conflicts rage between the Israel and the Hamaswith the stories that see the light of day causing global shock, testing human limits and endurance.
Among everything else, sports could not be affected to a very large extent by what is happening in the country of Israel, where several teams have been “forced” to find refuge in other countries to ensure the integrity of the athletes.
Among the foreign athletes competing in the country’s basketball championship is John Holland. The 34-year-old forward from Puerto Rico with a multi-year career in Europe has been playing since this summer in Hapoel Tel Aviv, experiencing the horrors of war first hand.
However, it is not the first time that he is in a country that takes part in war situations, since, in 2022, when the war broke out between Russia and Ukrainethe experienced ace was competing in Unix Kazan.
By posting on social media, Holland conveyed the images and emotions he sees and experiences last days in Tel Aviv.
“This is the second war I’m in. I was in Russia when they invaded Ukraine, but that was a bit different because you don’t really feel it, apart from the fall in the value of the ruble and things like that. I don’t feel the bombs there like I do here.
There are bombings and it’s crazy. We had several notices to go to the shelter. The streets are almost empty and you can hear and feel the bombs. It’s scary. I’m not going to lie.”
