With new friends and no enemies, he leaves Chris Coleman by Fearlessas he admitted talking to Hello Tsuchika to News Bulletin 247.
In particular, the Welsh coach explained the reasons why he decided that it would be preferable to leave the “blue and white” benchinstead of continuing – according to him – this negative situation.
In fact, the 53-year-old coach emphasized that beyond a man in the technical leadership of the club, what his team needs it’s more luck and better refereeingwithout this being an excuse for it.
To a question if he would like to remain in Greece and to work at another club, he emphasized that at the moment he sees it as extremely difficult, while he left open the possibility of returning to Peristeri, if he is asked in the future by the management of Atromitos.
What Chris Coleman said in detail
For what did not go well with Atromitos and they proceeded to dissolve their partnership: “Sometimes you feel that something is not working. It’s in the atmosphere. There were no structural texture problems. It was there, the good roster, the good administration, the people who knew football, Giannis Angelopoulos and the relationship of the people with the team. But sometimes you understand that things are not going well, things are not going anywhere. There I realized that Atromitos needs a new face, that’s why I discussed with Mr. Angelopoulos and Spano, in order to tell them that maybe it’s time for a new coach to come so he doesn’t take both of us down.”
On what kind of coach the team needs, with his departure, to achieve their goals: “Mr. Angelopoulos will always be my friend, I was received with a lot of love in Peristeri by the management of the team, and the people of the team will always be my friends. What Atromitos needs, to move forward and find his footing, is more luck but also good refereeing, without wanting to blame the referees for my own issue. We didn’t have good refereeing at the start of the season and this is something that Atromitos has to look at, so that he doesn’t have more problems.”
About the next stage in his career and whether he would like to remain in Greece: “Wrexham wouldn’t be easy to work for because he’s a friend of mine. Greek football has a lot of madness, a lot of passion and it is very difficult for the coaches, but it helped me enough to toughen up. It is difficult because all teams aim to win. In Greece, I would hardly work for another team, although this is still fresh with my departure.”
For the possibility of his return to Atromitos: “If they take me and tell me they want me, it will be very difficult to say no.”
