Week of European Cups of table tennis teams for the Greek colors

This week of European interclub events, which also started, Greek table tennis will again have its own representation.

Greek table tennis team with Panathinaikos in women and individually with Panagiotis Gionis and Malamatenia Papadimitriou, who strengthen their foreign teams, will be represented in the European inter-club competitions.

Panathinaikos, first of all, after being eliminated last month in stage 1 of the Champions League, continues its journey in the European Women’s Cup this year. It is in the third group of the second tier of the European Cup and will compete on 20 and 21/10 in Linares, Spain against Museo de la Almendra of the host country and Constanta of Romania.

In the men’s Champions League, the Polish Bogoria of Gionis begins its effort straight from stage 2. In the premiere of the second group, it hosts the Czech Republic Ostrov next Thursday.

In the women’s Europe Cup, it was from the beginning of the season the Austrian LZ Linz Frosberg of Malamatenia Papadimitriou. He qualified for stage 2 and, towards the end of the week, he has action in Mirandela, Portugal for the first group.

Panathinaikos is entering a new phase in its European journey and, just as last year it reached the top eight of the Europe Cup after the Champions League, this year too it will aim to reach the top. On Thursday he will go to Linares and the team will be made up of Katerina Toliou, Konstantina Paridis, the Slovenian Ana Tofad and the team manager Sotiris Humos.

The three teams will play each other and the first two will qualify for the next phase (first of the “knock outs”). There are four groups in stage 2 in total.

The schedule of Panathinaikos games in Greek time is as follows:

Friday 20/10 at 15:00: Panathinaikos-Constanța (Romania)

Saturday 21/10 at 11:00 Panathinaikos-Almentra

LZ Linds Frösberg of Papadimitriou will go to neighboring Portugal. She had qualified for stage 2 as runners-up from her group, which she organized, and will now challenge for a place in the knockout stages from group one. The program on the ETTU website states that both of its matches will take place on Saturday 21/10. At 4:00 p.m. Greek time, they will face the local Mirandela and at 9:00 p.m. the Czech team Ostrov.

In the Men’s Champions League, Bogoria of Gioni has German Neu Ulm at the head of the second group. Their first opponent, however, is Ostrov on Thursday and the top Greek athlete goes to Poland on Wednesday to help his team make the crucial positive start. At 18:00 the match.

As ETTU has noted, the second phase will consist of two round matches in four groups. The four runners-up of the second stage will be relegated to the quarter-finals of the European Cup. The four third-placed teams from stage 2 will complete this year’s European presence.

The four winners from stage 2 will enter the final stage, which will include semi-finals and a final and will be held in a Final 4 format. Saarbrucken, Germany will host this year’s F4 tournament.
