THE Yuri Lodigin renewed with Panathinaikos until 2026, as the “clover” made official yesterday.

The experienced goalkeeper spoke to the Panathinaikos channel on YouTube and referred to the decision of his renewal, but also to the team.

On the reasons he decided to stay in the team: “I am very happy that I made this decision. What I was thinking was to ask what positive I can personally take from the team and how I can help it achieve the goals it has in front of it, because Panathinaikos now has big goals. It is on a different path, on an upward path, I hope we achieve the goals we have set and are waiting for both us and the fans of the team. I can’t say I thought too much about this decision, I didn’t struggle much, but I think it’s the right one at the moment. Personally, I think they have a lot to offer the team. That’s why we extended our cooperation”.

On good relations between goalkeepers and if he has encountered this before: “Exactly the same way it is here, it’s never happened to me before. Our relations are up to excellent I would say with the rest of the children. I don’t know, just out of respect, because we have a goal, we don’t have something to separate, that’s very important and you understand it after some years. He may be playing in your position, but the behavior you would like your opponent to have, you must act accordingly. There is respect. There is good and positive energy so we all try to work together. We want to win through the team. That’s why due to respect, due to characters, because we fit together, a nice set is made.”

On how he thinks the end of his contract will find him at the club: “I know you’re waiting for another answer, but I don’t want to know what happens next. Dreaming and having goals is very beautiful, but we are in this moment in the now and it matters every moment, every day, whether in training or in games, where you play with the team. We only need victories, they take us forward and we want to achieve our goals, that is to win the championship, to make a great run in Europe, we don’t want to make just a good run personally and win the Cup. All trophies right now are a goal as crazy as it sounds. But any trophy is a goal for Panathinaikos and that’s how the team should always be.
