The marked shooter and current player was hosted on the COSMOTE TV camera Mavericks, Seth Curry.
The American guard talked about many interesting topics, such as whether he is a better shooter than his brother, Steph, but also about living with Luka Doncic.
Meanwhile, he made a comeback at the Under-19 World Championship in New Zealand in 2009, when the USA they faced her Hellas in the final, stressing that he still remembers him Kostas Papanikolaou.
What Seth Curry said in detail:
-My first question is a bit unusual. You played in the under-19 world championship in New Zealand in 2009. You dominated the Greek national team in the final. Do you remember anything from that game?
“Yes, I remember that. Looking back we had a really good team back then, many of us were unheard of then, we were unknown. But after all, there were a lot of NBA players on that roster.”
-Gordon Hayward, Klay Thompson…
“Yes, exactly, we had a good team. And it was also a good tournament, we played against Greece twice, the level of competition was good and we had to fight for the gold”.
– Do you remember any Greek player?
“Yes… I remember Papanikolaou. It’s been a while, I remember some others too, but Greece definitely had a good team.”
-Tell me something. Has that experience against European players, players from all over the world helped you at all in your career?
“Yeah, these guys are smart. They know the basics and are good players. Skills and talent are not enough to win them over. You have to use your mind, play correctly and they play a very dynamic style of basketball. It was a good learning experience for me then and I definitely won a lot of those matches.”
-Growing up in a basketball family what was the biggest lesson you learned from your father?
“I think just the fact that he was taking us to the game itself, he was with us in training when we were younger… We were just watching him with his teammates and how they were dealing with the work they had to do. We were seeing how much they were working and what they were doing, while we we were kids dreaming of being in the NBA one day. And I think without knowing it we absorbed so much about the game, so much knowledge, that helped us to be here today.”
-Obviously shooting is in your genes. But what else is the shot? Is it a matter of repetitions? Are you working? Talent?
“I think it has a bit to do with natural talent as well, you have to have a feel for it, a good touch on the ball. But more than anything else it has to do with constant repetition and repetition, mastering the way you should shoot. And with more repetitions and training, you gain the confidence you need to carry all of this into the match.”
-I know you’ve been asked hundreds of times, but who is a better shooter? You, Steph or your father?
“I! I always tell myself, all day long! I know Steph has the crown for most three-pointers, he hit the record a year or two ago. But I have confidence in myself and my hit rate overall in my career.”
-Have you ever had a shooting competition in the summer?
“Yes, me and my brother still work a lot in the summer. We’re together for three, four weeks in the summer, we train together and a lot of those drills are competitive. And the result is usually 50%-50%. My father comes to play ‘clock’ with us, some such games with shots, but now he sees us more”.
-Have you ever played with your father against (your father-in-law) coach Doc Rivers and his son, Austin?
“No, but maybe we should one of these days. There will be some good betting and debate about which family will beat the other. And I think generally speaking about sports, both families are very athletic, so maybe we should do it someday.”
-Does your wife ever complain that you only talk about basketball?
“Not at all. She also likes to talk about basketball. It is an added bonus for me in our marriage and makes things easy for us. She likes to watch games with me. So I have no complaints about what’s on TV or what I’m talking about.”
-Finally, you are a teammate of Luka (Donsic). Can you compare him to Giannis, since we come from Greece?
“Two of the best players in the league right now. Very smart players. And very competitive guys. I think that’s the key. Especially Luca from the first day he was competitive, he was not afraid of the moment. And I’m happy to be with him.”
