Celtic looked hungry to get a big result and their first in this year’s competition to at least stay alive in the battle for third place. And this was evident from the beginning since only in the 4th minute Furuhashi found the back of the net and… froze Atlético, who found themselves with their backs against the wall early on. However, the visitors won a penalty twenty minutes later, with Griezmann seeing off Hart but the Frenchman grabbed the rebound for 1-1. The joy of Madrid lasted for a while, since in the 28th minute Palma with a terrible diagonal finish sent the ball first to the right post of the goal and then into the net for 2-1 which remained until the end of the half.

It was Atletico’s turn to come on strong in a 45th minute and did so in the second, with Morata equalizing in the 53rd minute and the game starting all over again. The match was terrible, the ball was going up and down and the pace was fast. With De Paul in the 82nd minute sent off with a second yellow card and Simeone getting furious. However, nothing changed until the final and both teams got one point each.
